The Morning Cricket League Division 1 Final at Po Kong Village Road, Hong Kong on January 20, 2026, produced a gripping contest as IRC CB Invincibles held their nerve to defeat SW Marvels by 28 runs, clinching the Division 1 title in style.
Opting to bat first, the Invincibles posted 143/8 in 20 overs, a total built on crucial contributions from their top order. Ghufran Muhammad played a composed anchor role with 45 off 35 balls, striking five boundaries and two sixes. He was supported by Muhammad Hassan, who added a brisk 24 off 18, while skipper Bhaskar Chatterjee remained unbeaten on 15, guiding the side to a competitive score. The Marvels’ bowling attack was spearheaded by Roshan Kumar Yadav (4-0-19-3), who claimed key wickets, while Najeeb Amar (2/19) provided disciplined support.
Chasing 144, the Marvels began brightly thanks to a blistering innings from captain Ankur, who smashed 43 off just 21 balls with five fours and two sixes. His aggressive strokeplay gave the Marvels early momentum, but the Invincibles’ bowlers struck back decisively. Md Habib Ur Rehman delivered a match-winning spell of 3-0-11-4, dismantling the middle order, while Aftab Hussain (3.3-0-15-3) and Ajay Kamath (4-0-21-1) tightened the screws. Despite resistance from Aji Chacko (24 off 33), the Marvels collapsed from a promising position at 62/2 to be bowled out for 115 in 16.3 overs.
The turning point came when Ankur Vasishta was dismissed at 62/2, triggering a slide that the Marvels never recovered from. The Invincibles’ bowlers maintained relentless pressure, supported by sharp fielding, to seal the victory.
With this triumph, IRC CB Invincibles showcased their all-round strength — steady batting contributions followed by incisive bowling — to emerge as Morning Cricket League Division 1 champions. The Marvels, despite flashes of brilliance, fell short in execution during the middle overs, leaving the Invincibles to celebrate a deserved title win.
