LSW Warriors v Kai Tak
Saturday March 10th at the Po Kong Village Road 1 ground
At the start of the match the coin for the toss was lost. Fortunately, so as not to waste time, Warriors captain wanted to bat first and Kai Taks to field first, so the match got under way.
Despite the early loss of Azhar Illahi, Warriors made rapid progress in their score as Jawaid Iqbal raced to 67 runs and Tabarak Dar put on another fine show to score 59. Supported well by Ilyas Gul in the middle order the Warriors were all out for 209 in 34.4 overs. Tiku, the Kai Tak bowler, proved particularly costly to the Warriors tail enders taking 4 wickets for 19 runs in only 3.4 overs. Some sharp and tidy fielding from Kai Tak probably saved another 40 odd runs.
Middle of the table Kai Tak were unable to stand up to the bowling attack put on by Warriors after the break. Taking all the catching opportunities and keeping a disciplined approach to line and length, Kai Tak were dismissed for 171 in 32.5 overs giving Warriors the victory by 38 runs. Zain Abbas, still only 80% fit from the injury he sustained earlier in the season, returned particularly fine figures of 5 wickets for 36 runs in less than 8 overs, his wily slower ball still bamboozling the batsman. For the second week running Jawad Ashraf took a superb catch at square leg off the bowling of Tabarak, to take the wicket of Belcastro.
With 15 victories under their belt this season Warriors have the Saturday League title in their grasp and at present would seem unstoppable. |
