LSW Warriors v Police

Saturday March 3rd at the Police Training School
After losing the toss Warriors were put in to bowl first, Tabarak Dar and Jawaid Iqbal opened the Warriors attack. Tabarak quickly got a breakthrough when he had Liaqat Ali caught behind the stumps by Azhar Illahi for only 5 runs in the second over. Malkit Singh and Nasir Hameed started to put up some resistance to the bowling attack, until Nasir was beautifully caught at square leg by Jawad Ashraf off the bowling of Ilyas Gul for just 16 runs. Warriors bowlers kept their bowling lines tight, not allowing the Police batsmen any opportunity freely hit out. Two more catches, in quick succession, behind the stumps for Azhar completely took the steam out of the Police batting attack.
The fall of Mumtazs wicket for only 25 runs being crucial here. Warriors bowlers kept up the pressure and, in a reduced overs game, the Police ran out of time ending up 141 for 8 wickets off 35 overs. Warriors top bowler was Tabarak who returned 3 wickets for 43 runs in 10 overs, which included one maiden over.

Jawaid and Azhar opened the batting for Warriors and quickly established themselves with some fine runs. Ably supported by Nasir Sajjad and Zain Abbas, after the dismissal of Jawaid, Azhar went on to score 47 and carried his bat throughout the innings with a captains display of concentration and shots. After only 22.2 overs Warriors had passed the Polices score reaching 142 runs for the loss of only 2 wickets.

This win for Warriors means they take another step towards being champions of the Saturday League this season.
